How to enjoy Rio de Janeiro luggage-free
Rio de Janeiro Luggage Storage Guide 2026
The best time to visit Rio de Janeiro is during the summer months of December to March. This period coincides with Rio's famous Carnival, which takes place in February or March depending on the year, attracting visitors from all over the world for its parades, samba music, and street parties or blocos. The weather during these months is warm and sunny since it’s Brazil’s summer and it’s perfect for enjoying Rio's beautiful beaches. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and larger crowds. For a more relaxed experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of April to May or September to November, when the weather is still pleasant, but the crowds are thinner. To make your trip more convenient, Nannybag provides secure luggage storage solutions throughout Rio, allowing you to explore the city without the hassle of carrying your bags.
Visiting Corcovado Mountain, home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, is an absolute must-do activity in Rio de Janeiro. Standing 700 meters above sea level, the statue offers breathtaking 360 views of the city, and landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach, and the Tijuca Forest. To reach the summit, you can take a train ride through Tijuca National Park or opt for a hike along one of the several trails. But whichever you choose, one thing is certain: the views are worth the journey when you visit the Corcovado. Looking to explore but need a place to store your bags? Worry not, Nannybag offers convenient luggage storage options near Corcovado. Download the mobile app and choose which location fits best with your schedule.
While Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city to visit, taking some safety precautions is extremely important. Here are some Rio de Janeiro safety tips. Always be aware of your surroundings and avoid displaying valuable items such as jewelry, expensive cameras, or large amounts of cash. Stick to well-populated and well-lit areas, especially at night, and avoid walking alone in unfamiliar neighborhoods. Use registered taxis or rideshare services instead of hailing cabs from the street, and be cautious when using public transportation. Keep your belongings secure and close to you, particularly in crowded places like markets and public beaches. Make sure to take your belongings with you if you go into the water at the beach, since theft is common. It's also advisable to use a money belt or a concealed pouch for your passport and extra cash. To prevent calling attention to yourself, don’t carry around large bags. Use luggage storage services like Nannybag to stash oversized bags and roam the streets stress-free.
Copacabana, one of the most famous neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro, is renowned for its stunning 4-kilometer-long beach that attracts both locals and tourists. The iconic crescent-shaped shoreline is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, beach spots and more. The promenade, designed by landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, features a distinctive wave-patterned mosaic and is lined with kiosks, restaurants, and bars with local cuisine and drinks. Copacabana and its beaches are also the site of year wide events, from music festivals to the spectacular New Year's Eve fireworks display, which draws millions of visitors each year. Don’t want to lug your bags around as you enjoy the festivities? To make your visit to Copacabana and its beaches more enjoyable, Nannybag provides convenient luggage storage options nearby. Relax and soak up the sun without worrying about your bags.
